RSG partners with Devon & Cornwall Police through the Intervention Hub

Red Snapper Group (RSG) is pleased to announce a collaboration with Devon & Cornwall Police. Our unique collaboration will see RSG’s digital 24/7 evidence based interventions – The Intervention Hub  (https://www.digitalintervention.co.uk) being piloted as part of the innovative Pathfinder Out of Court Disposal Scheme.

This exciting new initiative will see low level offenders paying a one off fee to use one of the programmes on the Intervention Hub as part of a Deferred Caution and Deferred Charge. This will be one part of an overarching contract of conditions that the offender will have to comply with such as, for example, compensation to the victim or restrictive conditions

RSG will be contributing part of these payments to support further initiatives within offender management.

The Intervention Hub itself utilises digital Computerised Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CCBT) which can be used on any SMART device, is available 24/7 and is suitable for all learning styles. The structured programmes enable Service Users to develop their knowledge and skills to avoid further offending, or escalation of specific issues that can lead to poor decision making. This diversionary approach seeks to empower individuals to understand and take responsibility for their own thinking and behaviour and support them to make positive, long-term change. The hubs that are available to offenders include:

  • Thinking Skills Hub
  • Emotional Wellbeing Hub
  • Education and Employment Hub
  • Domestic Abuse Hub
  • Strength Based Hub
  • Women’s Programme Hub

The pilot commenced on 10th August 2020 and is anticipated to be completed within 12 months where a full evaluation will take place regarding its effectiveness.

The director of RSG has stated:

“We are delighted in this outcome.  RSG has been supporting the law enforcement sector for nearly 20 years.  This latest initiative sees the adoption of our most innovative service to date.  Combining technology, with criminal justice know how and law enforcement experts.  Thank you to Devon & Cornwall Police for the confidence they have shown in RSG.”

Devon and Cornwall Police commented:

“The Pathfinder programme is keen to embrace different ways of providing interventions that enhance the existing requirements outlined within individual offender contracts. This online provision will be another tool to help offenders increase their self-awareness and reflect on some of the thought patterns, behaviours and triggers that are linked to their offending. The operational pressures of COVID-19 have hastened the need to increase the range of types of provision and we are looking forward to receiving the feedback on impact form those that undertake the courses.”
