- Understanding of a trauma-informed approach and being aware of the impact this has on the victim
- Understanding myths and stereotypes about rape and sexual assaults and how this can affect investigations
- Develop an investigative mindset that recognises that patterns of behaviour are a significant feature of RASSO
- Understand the legislation that is relevant to RASSO cases (inc. consent and the restriction on evidence or questions about a complainant’s sexual history)
- Understand the approach to investigative decision making
- Explain how to Achieve Best Evidence (ABE) via victim/witness investigative interviewing and special measures
- Understand what constitutes ‘reasonable lines of enquiry’ in relation to Digital Material
- Understanding the role of Forensics Science in RASSO investigation
