  • Understanding myths and stereotypes about rape and sexual assaults and how this can affect investigations
  • Develop an investigative mindset that recognises that patterns of behaviour are a significant feature of RASSO
  • Understand the legislation that is relevant to RASSO cases (inc. consent and the restriction on evidence or questions about a complainant’s sexual history)
  • Understand the approach to investigative decision making
  • Explain how to Achieve Best Evidence (ABE) via victim/witness investigative interviewing and special measures
  • Understand what constitutes ‘reasonable lines of enquiry’ in relation to Digital Material
  • Understanding the role of Forensics Science in RASSO investigation

  • Understanding the current requirements for a RASSO case file
