Overview
The Initial Crime Investigators Development Programme (ICIDP) is part of the PIP2 Courses that develop an investigator on their pathway to becoming an accredited PIP2 qualified investigator.
Incorporating National Occupational Standards (NOS) and College of Policing National Curriculum aims and objectives, RSL courses address the requirements, requisite knowledge, and understanding required to perform this role.

Learning Objectives
Learners will leave this course trained at the appropriate level to enable them to:
- Analyse potential links between serious and organised crime, and public protection issues
- Describe complex types of internet – dependent crimes and their impact
- Apply comprehensive investigative procedures for complex investigations with a digital element
- Employ specialist assistance in obtaining information from a specialist or service provider in the recovery of digital data
- Engage in effective partnership collaboration with respect to offender rehabilitation
- Understand the difference between ‘volume and priority’ crime and ‘serious and complex’ crime and its relevance to the investigative process
- Take into account additional professional considerations relevant to specific complex investigations
- Understand and apply the legislation and processes relating to international and European enquiries/investigations
- Understand the intricacies associated with victim and witness care during a complex investigation
- Understand and make use of the additional sources of intelligence that can be obtained during a complex investigation
- Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of the knowledge and skills required to conduct complex investigations
- Understand the importance of the concept of memory upon interview methods and processes
- Engage in complex victim/witness and suspect interviewing
- Ensure the well-being and resilience of the investigative team and self during a complex investigation
- Address complex circumstances when conducting interviews
- Liaise with specialists in relation to complex live (or non-recent) cases
