Overview
In 2019 the Victims Code became law and as a result it is now not uncommon for interviewers at court to be questioned as to the method they chose to interview a witness.
Should the witness’s account be obtained by means of Video Recording Interview?
RSL offer visually recorded interview training at PIP2 Serious and Complex and Specialist levels in accordance with Achieving Best Evidence.
Our courses are bespoke to the client and can be stand alone or form part of a broader PIP2 interview package.
Incorporating National Occupational Standards (NOS) and College of Policing Guidelines.
The Youth Justice and Criminal Evidence Act 1999 and the Coroners and Justice Act 2009 are explored in the context of Vulnerable/ Intimidated witnesses and the Special Measures that they are entitled to at court to give their best evidence.
Our courses include assessed role play interviews which can be pass/fail if required.
Learning Objectives
Learners will leave this course trained at the appropriate PIP2 level to conduct visually recorded witness interviews in accordance with Achieving Best Evidence guidelines:
